Sinking Mire #FF

Photo Prompt: Dale Rogerson

Why is this ground so soft? Didi wondered at the mire she had just walked into.
“Uh oh…”
She was sinking. Too late. She went down by each second. Her legs were totally stuck. Her dad sat far off watching her. She wondered if he was mad at her for leaving him. He had also warned her about this spot. Now her new white sneakers would be ruined. But couldn’t he see she was sinking?! Not till her thigh was almost submerged did she yell out. “Daaddyy!!! Daddy I’m sinking!!! I’m so sorry!!!”
He stood up calmly. “Now you’re talking.”

¡Hola! It’s the first of the year – Friday Fictioneers hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields. Don’t hesitate to join the fun!

Thank God for the New Year. Thank God for life and everything.
This story reminds me of my relationship with my father. Imagine walking somewhere you’re not pretty familiar with, and then suddenly leave your guide’s hands against his warning, only to run into trouble. Or you probably feel you know the way and all. Didi was curious to know more about the mire and so left her dad, of which she wouldn’t have gotten trapped if she hadn’t left him. And if ever she got trapped while holding his hands, she wouldn’t have been as hysteric as she was. Rather, a certain calmness would have overwhelmed her, knowing her dad was by her side and would definitely help. Remember Daniel in the Lion’s den (Dan 6:19-22) and the three men in the burning furnace (Dan 3: 16-18). They didn’t get frightened, hysterical, yell or throw tantrums when they were told they would be thrown into the fire, rather, they replied with confidence about how God would save them, because they knew he was with them (Isaiah 43:2). Knowing God is with you in whichever situation you find yourself, gives you a sense of calmness and peace of mind.
By my relationship with my father, I mean my heavenly Father, God (Matt. 6:6,9). God is our father, our guide, leading us in our daily lives. I saw this write-up from my notification, and it caught my eye, because it’s so true.

IF YOU FEEL FAR FROM GOD, REMEMBER:
HE ISN’T THE ONE WHO MOVED.

Most times, we drift away without even realizing it. Some even doubt God exists (Heb:11:6). And guess what? God is always aware of our situations. He sees all and knows all. Didi’s dad didn’t stand up till she called him (Isa.59:1-2). Till she acknowledged she was sorry. We really need to be determined to walk with God and not stray away. When we walk away, we sink into life’s mires and soil our purity. The best part of it is that when we cry out to him for mercy, he comes running to our rescue.
Are you drowning in life’s mire? Always remember, God is our Father and will always be ready to pull us out, as long as we believe in him, ask him for mercy and help.(Ps. 50:15, John 1:12, Heb. 4:16).

Listening to songs helps too😊

REFLECTIONS

In the beginning of that year
We had the Joy of a new day
But it was just for a moment
Our fears came like a current

The banks ran out of money
The long queue wasn’t funny
We all felt the crunch of lack
Only a few tried to fight back

So many gave up on the road
They died with stories untold
The strength of people failed
At the time their cashier paid

Anytime we became hungry
We walked the streets angry
All the children cried in vain
No one could bear their pain

A friend in need showed up
When we wanted to give up
He was hope to the hopeless
And the liver of the fearless

With Him on top of the game
Where is the tears and shame?
Now we stand on the pinnacle
How we got here is a miracle

Happy New Year

THE KING IS BORN

At the King’s court
We waited for Him
From the local inns
We sought for Him

Where is our King?
We’ve seen His star
A glimpse of hope
For men from afar

Though we waited
We didn’t see Him
But it was His light
That revealed Him

In a humble heart
Without any pride
We finally saw Him
Like a lovely bride

Wrapped with care
Laid in the manger
Of a broken heart
Looking so tender

We bowed in worship
The veil of sin is torn
For a new friendship
Cos the King is born

Crap? #FF

Photo Prompt: Rowena Curtin

“Did I need a repaint? Yes, I did. But did I ask for a graffiti? No I didn’t.”
“Come on dad, it’s just a painting, not graffiti. Graffitis are illegal and you can’t say…”
“Chidiebere. I said, I can say, and I will say it again. Don’t ever paint your crap art on my wall.”
“My art isn’t crap, dad.”
“As long as it’s on my wall, it’s crap.”
His sister, Nene, couldn’t stand it.
“Oh please you guys should stop this drama. Stop killing the Christmas spirit. Bro, daddy is pulling your legs. He told me he likes it.”

O wandering mind

A thousand words left unsaid
Since we all see the obvious
For it hurts the heart, we know
And keep hoping for a better tomorrow

A thousand miles away
Our thoughts doth wonder
Peace! Be still o wandering mind
For we have a Father who is kind

Oil and Water #FF

PHOTO PROMPT: Ted Strutz

“Theo, what exactly are you saying about these shoes?” Chika asked her husband.

“What am I not saying?” he asked, “That we should sell them, so that we can eat.”

Enraged, she pushed out a basket that contained just his shoes. “Alright, you can go and sell these ones. Leave me and my children alone. We won’t walk barefooted with you!”

“You’re wiser than I imagined. So, you’ll rather walk with shoes on an empty stomach?”

“Please talk for yourself. Am I you? You’d better sell me and this house first, before these shoes.”

“Fine. Let’s start with the T.V”
